After a few minutes away, they cautiously walked back in the room. Jim sighed in relief when he saw Mart still happily dancing with Diana, seemingly oblivious to anything else.
It took him a minute to find Brian, and when he did, he started in shock. Trixie was already stalking over to him.
“Hey,” Trixie called out as she got closer to where Brian was sitting, with Honey feeding him grapes. “What the heck is this?”
Brian stroked his hands down the long Arabian robe and grinned. “What? The costume? Easy, I made Dan an offer he couldn’t refuse. So we switched costumes. Now I get to be the sheik and order you around. And here’s my first order. Put this on,” he demanded, grabbing a terry robe that Diana had gotten from the linen closet.
“No way,” Trixie protested as she looked around the room and spotted Dan in the medical outfit. No wonder he agreed to switch, she thought, I bet he’d love to play doctor with Holly.
“Ah ah ah…” Brian said, wagging his finger at her. “I’m now your Master. So you have to do what I say.”
Trixie stared at him, but then reluctantly shrugged into the robe. Jim was happy about that, but wasn’t sure he was happy about Brian being able to order Honey around.
“Why do you get to be the Sheik?” Jim asked.
“Because, Mr. Frayne, I’m smart enough to know that there are times when brains are much more effective than brawn.”
Author's notes: First of all, I must thank Cathy for providing such a fantastic place for all of us Trixie friends to gather. I've gained friends from far and wide, whether I've met you in person or not.
And I'm thankful you allowed me to play a role as Jix turns six!
Second, I have to thank all the Jix members out there who add so much to this site: the lurkers, the readers, everyone! Jix would just be a web address and a collection of stories if wasn't for you.
Third, I have to thank Jenn, my lovely and patient and understanding editor who turns these stories around, even when she hates to be rushed. I'm proud to have spent another year with you as my editor, improving my writing by your comments, be it critique or compliment.
Fourth, I have to thank Random House for recognizing the worth of Trixie Belden and republishing the series. I also thank them for letting me use their characters. I'm not receiving any profit from these characters.
Info on the story:
Aladdin is a Disney movie and a fable regarding a boy who finds a Genie in a magic lamp. In the Disney version, Aladdin is an orphan (like Dan), a bad boy gone good (like Dan), really cute (like Dan), and has a pet monkey (not like Dan... I don't think).
Austin Powers is a series of movies that started in the 1990s about a secret agent from the 1960's who is brought out of cryofreeze to fight crime.
When Trixie is referring to Jim coming home and finding her in his bed, this was covered in a previous story of mine, Goldilocks.
